Amigo is a seafood restaurant in Cap Malheureux, in the north of Mauritius, serving whole flame-grilled langouste and a full seafood card since 1985. We are on the first floor, ten minutes north of Grand Baie, open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner.
The card follows the sea, so the fish is listed as the catch of the day rather than by species. Langouste is the constant — the reason people drive north since 1985 — and it stays on the card every service, priced by weight at Rs 350 per 100g rather than by portion. Whole grilled fish is priced the same way, at Rs 195 per 100g.
Alongside the seafood, a short run of Mauritian dishes comes from the family kitchen — fish curry with eggplant, octopus salmi in tamarind, rougaille — cooked the way three generations here have cooked them.
We have cooked it the same three ways since 1985 and we still argue about which is best. All three are the whole animal, split, and priced at Rs 350 per 100g.

Two platters, both built for two people, and the reason most tables book in the first place.

Grilled langouste wants something dry and cold with enough body to stand up to the flame; the tartare and carpaccio want something lighter. Tell us what you have ordered and we will bring the bottle that suits it.
Champagne can be opened at the table with a sabre by a Maître Sabreur of the Confrérie du Sabre d'Or — ask when you book. There is also a rum bottled under our own label for the end of the meal.
Celebrations and sabrage →Amigo is on the Royal Road at Le Pavillon, Cap Malheureux, at the northern tip of Mauritius. It is roughly ten minutes by car from Grand Baie and a few minutes from Péreybère and Grand Gaube. The restaurant is on the first floor; Amigo Bar & Bistro is on the ground floor below it.
